Sometimes we stumble across gifts from the past when we least expect them. Last week, while packing to move, I found this card that Ryan wrote to his sister Mandy on her birthday January 9, 2002 – two and a half months before his death. He loved to write poetry, so for this post I want to share some of his words.
Here it is just as he wrote it, without edits or corrections.
“Happy 12th Birthday
Full of happiness & glee
I love you a lot
(and also your Beey)
Your growing up fast
Put a brick on your head
By the way you look good
especially in red
I love you I love you
until I die
That’s all I have to say
so,
HAPPY Birthday!
I Wuv U
-Ryan”
No commentary needed. Simply a beautiful gift.
May your finds be ones that evoke sweet memories and connections as you pack and as you unpack, Kathy. Thanks for sharing this special treasure with us.

I love every new morsel I hear about my dear friends’ lost kids. We never met each others’ kids, and yet they brought us together, and for that reason, I love to hear their stories.

I too love any fresh perspective we get from our beloved ones who are no longer here. What an amazing gift, Kathy. Thank you.
And, on another subject, how fab to be packing up to move! Let us know if you find other treasures.
