It is almost too hard to believe
40 years ago this day I was asked on my first date
To downtown Buffalo, NY we went as teenagers
Buffalo Braves played the Chicago Bulls
Me in my blue dress with the red rose
You in your Marauders jacket and jeans
In the nosebleed section of Memorial Auditorium
There the magic began
My knight in shining armor
Ready to take me for a hot dog and loganberry
With your brother and his girlfriend in their Cutlass
Getting the nod the date was a go
It was the start of something great
You and me against the world
Our dreams just beginning
With no end in sight
Our dreams had their twists and turns
Love, loss, sadness
Yet we had one another
To guide us through
how lucky you both are. And how lucky are those of us who know and love you. What a wonderful team you have made. And I am sure that because of your unconditional love for each other, you have become more of yourselves than you might have without one another. Blessings to you both on this day and the next 40 years!

Dottye,
Your words meant so much today. Thank you for being such a kind and caring person, and for taking the time to comment on my post. Rick and I are fortunate to have one another, and so many others that have touched our lives in many specials ways, such as you!
Love,
Monica
