Last week, two of us spent some retreat time at Well of Mercy in Harmony, NC, a ministry of hospitality and healing sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. Well offers quiet sanctuary for adults seeking right relationship with self, others, God and creation. Following are some offerings from the time there. The three haikus that follow with the photos were inspired from a new space at Well of Mercy named Laura’s Place. It was built by the parents of Laura Moore in her memory. I thought of these parents whose daughter died two years ago on May 30 as we spent quiet time in the breezy screened room on the hill.

Grains of pollen dust 

the floor where dappled  light plays,

sweeping up a heart.

Echoes of laughter

lingering in Laura’s Place

wrap sunshine on our shoulders.

Breezes waft through screens;

Love and peace are here as blue

skies await outside.
