One of the writing “devices” Carol has encouraged us to use is an acrostic using a phrase or name or title to get us started. So at our summer meeting I used the simple phrase “GETTING HERE” because we are all busy women and it does take some effort and planning to make it to our semi-annual reunions. Here is what I wrote:

Going to our retreat again

Every six months or so.

The longing to be with my sol sisters — the anticipation of quiet moments,

Interspersed with lively conversations and

Never a dull moment —

Getting my “fix” for rejuvenation.

Happiness in such a unique group,

Each of us with our stories and memories,

Renewing our bonds and

Energized with our common hope…
